2016 Retreat Recap!

October 31, 2016

Hi Ladies,

As I sit in my office at Amelia Island my head is dazed and confused as I reflect back on the amazing year of Ladies Retreats that was 2016. The year started with a bang at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas, with Jerome, Albert and the team leading us off in fantastic style. Omni La Costa pushed the bar even higher with tales of the entire camp ordering champagne and pizza for dinner from the hot tub on their free night, with no pros there to confirm or deny we’ll never know. Springtime brought us to Amelia Island for back to back weeks. "Camp Sheila and Judy" was a near riot as the pros begged to be invited to this one. The second week at Amelia Island, Jake sealed his legacy with his 2nd victory in 2 weeks. Summer was a time for us to rest and prepare for the Fall. Key Biscayne week 1, despite the threat of a hurricane we actually played more tennis than any other retreat! Amelia Island saw the first ever female captain lift the trophy #teamyana and our first ever Facebook Live stream of the exhibition on the internet. At Key Biscayne week 2 the Canadians took over the retreat with almost 2/3 the camp coming from north of the border, the week was capped by the first victory for Mel Segota with the Alley Cats.

All in all, it was another amazing year. We met a lot of new friends, were able to reunite with old friends. Hit A LOT of tennis balls, consumed our share of Corona Light, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, and relax at a variety of fabulous resorts. As I look back, it’s always amazing to me how tennis brings so many people together, I love seeing the alumni campers connect with each other. I love seeing campers come by themselves and get embraced by the groups and become friends with the others. I love getting to travel the country and spend time with so many of our fantastic pros. I do not love having to share an apartment with Dr Rob Menzies, but you can’t win them all right?

Looking forward to 2017 this will be our biggest year yet! We have 5 retreats scheduled as well as the expanded VIP ALL ACCESS Camp at the BNP Paribas Open

VIP ALL ACCESS Camp at the BNP Paribas Open Professional Tournament. (This is not your typical retreat, and it’s co-ed!)

Due to popular demand, we have created the ultimate BNP Paribas Open Cliff Drysdale Tennis Experience. We’ve removed the team competition in the afternoons, in its place is a Pro Am and time playing with ATP / WTA stars in our Tennis With the Stars event, as well as suite tickets to the BNP Paribas Open to watch the pros play. This type of experience cannot be had at any other camp! As a co-ed camp this is great if you want to vacation with your spouse, if your spouse doesn’t play tennis then we can substitute the tennis clinics for rounds of golf each day.

Led by myself, Alberto Fernandez and Elliot Pegg,
the week is a combination of outstanding

tennis instruction, mingling with star players from the ATP / WTA tours, and watching and playing with the pros play up close and personal, all accompanied by your own personal chauffeur, tennis instructor, and tour guide from the Cliff Drysdale Experience Team. Camp includes resort lodging, pro-am playing or spectator time and pro exhibition court time with the stars,
tennis instruction, (option to substitute for rounds of golf) daily breakfasts, dinner parties, transportation to and from BNP Paribas Open and suite passes. We only have 20 spaces available and anticipate selling this out fast!

As always, if you have any questions at all please do let me know and we hope to see you on the courts in 2017!

Thank you,

Scott, Sue and the Retreats Team
