When it comes to resort experiences, it’s hard to top Baha Mar. Set on the crystal-clear shores of Nassau, Bahamas, this sprawling destination has become one of my absolute favorite getaways. The best part? You never need to leave the resort property to have a fresh experience every single day. From the food to the pools to the entertainment, you can pack in four days of adventure without ever stepping off site.
I think the sweet spot for a trip is three nights, four days — long enough to soak it all in, short enough to leave you wanting more. Let’s walk through a few key choices you’ll want to make to get the most out of your stay.
Hotel Options: Where to Stay
I’ve been fortunate to stay in all three of Baha Mar’s hotels: SLS, Grand Hyatt, and Rosewood. Each offers something different, and you truly can’t go wrong. That said, here’s my quick breakdown:
Rosewood: The premier experience. Luxury, peace, and privacy. If you want five-star service with a boutique feel, this is it.
SLS: Stylish, energetic, trendy, and perfect for younger couples or groups. The vibe here is social and upbeat.
Grand Hyatt: My personal go-to. Everything you need, great views, upscale feel. Specifically, I recommend staying in the West Tower if you can request it — central location, a bit quieter than the East Tower, and close to everything.
Dining: Where to Eat (and Why Reservations Matter)
Baha Mar has an unreal number of dining options. You could eat somewhere new every meal and still not cover them all. Our best tip: play lunch by ear, and lock in your dinner reservations as soon as you book your hotel. While you can get in without a res, you’ll likely be stuck with 5pm or 9pm — times better spent by the pool or enjoying nightlife.
Here are my top picks:
Marcus Fish + Chop House — Plan an earlier dinner so you can sit outside and catch the sunset. Their Spaghetti Piccadilly is one of my favorite dishes anywhere — fresh pasta, sweet and spicy seafood, and deep, comforting flavors. Marcus Samuelsson’s personal touches are everywhere here.
Cleo — Located inside the SLS, this is a perfect spot for bigger groups. Mediterranean small plates made for sharing. Let your server guide the way — everything we’ve tried has been incredible.
Costa — Nestled in the Rosewood, this upscale coastal Mexican spot is magical. The setting is tropical elegance, the margaritas are elite, and the fish tacos hit every time.
Honorable Mentions:
Stix: Casual, hearty noodle bar with great prices.
Swimming Pig: Family-friendly, big menu, fun atmosphere.
The Water: Pools, Beach & Baha Bay
If you’re like me, being near the water is non-negotiable on vacation—and Baha Mar delivers in a big way. With over a dozen pools, a private beach, and a seriously underrated waterpark, you can try something new every day.
A few insider tips:
Get your pool spot early. With three resorts sharing space, chairs fill up. If you're with kids, head to Dean’s Blue Hole — a stunning grotto with turtles swimming inside. For a more relaxed, adult vibe, check out Drift, where food and drinks are never far.
Don’t skip Baha Bay. Even if you think you’re not a waterpark person, just trust us. It’s clean, classy, and never too crowded. You can ride the big slides, float the lazy river, or just hang out in the sun. Bonus: It’s easy to do for just a couple of hours, then return to the resort for a chill evening.
Beach time? Beautiful water, warm temperatures, and the freedom to come and go as you please. I usually base at the pool, then stroll down to the beach when I want a dip in the ocean.
Activities: Beyond the Racquet Club
Yes, we absolutely recommend booking some time at the Racquet Club — tennis, pickleball, and padel are all available and thriving. But if you’re looking to branch out, here are a few of our favorite non-racquet activities:
Mini Blue Golf — Think mini-golf, but more challenging and classy. It’s fun for all ages and a great way to relax after a long pool day. If you’re a serious golfer, the Royal Blue championship course is also worth the visit.
Casino + Sportsbook — Even if you’re not a big gambler, the casino floor is worth a walk-through. Clean, modern, and buzzing at night. And the sportsbook is a dream for game day.
Jazz Bar — New, vibrant, and right in the middle of the action. Grab a table and let the music set the mood for the evening.
Final Word
Whether you’re a foodie, a sun-seeker, or someone who wants to mix leisure with a little luxury, Baha Mar has it all. I’ve been lucky enough to visit five years in a row, and still haven’t done everything there is to do — and that’s exactly why you want to keep coming back.
So, the next time you're planning a getaway, put Baha Mar at the top of your list.
